We told ourselves we weren´t going to take any night buses since there are always these horror stories about night buses. But San Pedro was so expensive, we wanted to get as far south as possible so we could eat more empanadas for less. So after the 5 hour ride to Antofagasta, we took the night bus (12 hours) to La Serena. The time flew surprisingly quickly. It was beautiful chasing the sunset and watching the colors change over the desert.
